The best I can figure the main difference between C-1 and K-1 is the paddle.

I realize this is a long shot, as the Google searches I’ve done haven’t looked promising. Is there anything vaguely resembling a whitewater float in central or southern Illinois or western Kentucky?

Spent the day on the river, don't know if I'll have another one this year - but it was perfect. Very little headwind, river was like glass and it was like canoeing into a painting all day. And to top it off, the friend I was paddling with found out he was cancer-free after we finished. It felt like a commercial for Travel Oregon with good beer, good friends, a nice campfire and some friendly dogs sniffing around. Enjoy the good times when they happen friends.

FWIW, if you're looking for a kayak or canoe get it now if you can. Brands are telling us prices will go up 30-40 percent next year.

I’m hoping either next year or in 2023 there will be a ton of used boats hitting the market as some people decide not to stick with their new pandemic hobby. If not, I’ll just keep renting for my handful of trips each year.

Does anyone have anything bad or good to say about big box store kayaks, Pelican to be specific?
We are looking for a recreational boat for my wife. She's not fishing, tour, in need of performance, etc. She just wants to be able to put it in the water, paddle around, and explore.
The only required feature is that she be able to get it from the house to the water (approx 200 feet, 150 of which are grass/sand) by herself. She's athletically fit and in good shape, not a frail, dainty person.

Are we talking creek or lake? I don’t think they have a good reputation for holding up when hitting rocks.

Bay. No rocks, but plenty of oyster beds. You wouldn't hit one on accident. Even at high tide, they are plenty visible.
The picture in my avatar is where it would be put in and out of the water.

Probably nothing in Western Kentucky. Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away.

But if you go down the Green River, you'll be 5 miles away from Paradise.
