I certainly won't shed a tear, but sometimes you have to remember nurture over nature applies sometimes as well. Steele is an Army brat (in fact, her father was one of the first black cadets to play football for West Point). Most of the views we're talking about here were probably formed before even got in front of a camera, much less ESPN.

    The Right to Health

The United States owes its existence as a nation partly to an immunization mandate.

In 1777, smallpox was a big enough problem for the bedraggled American army that George Washington thought it could jeopardize the Revolution. An outbreak had already led to one American defeat, at the Battle of Quebec. To prevent more, Washington ordered immunizations — done quietly, so the British would not hear how many Americans were sick — for all troops who had not yet had the virus.

It worked. The number of smallpox cases plummeted, and Washington’s army survived a war of attrition against the world’s most powerful country.

The NBA said Tuesday that it sought a vaccine mandate for players during offseason talks with the National Basketball Play- ers Association but was rebuffed.
“The NBA has made these proposals, but the players’ union has rejected any vaccination require- ment,” spokesman Mike Bass said.

NBA players association is no more intelligent, collectively, than a trump rally in Alabama.

It is unfortunate we got to a place where this had to be mandated. However, this is the free market at work. Companies, whose guiding light is profit, decided a pandemic was bad for business. If you didn't want to be part of stopping the pandemic, find another job. I might have objected a bit in April. By July, it became clear that mandates probably had to happen. That's unfortunate.
