Today in cops gone feral

I'm always amazed at the lack of repercussions for officers who clearly go "over the line" (like above) in their use of force. If a cop can kill someone and be cleared if he or she says "I feared for my life or the life of others" - how do they get away with punching someone, kicking someone when it is very clear there was no physical threat?

Why should the general public have respect for police officers and the profession when they clearly have little respect for the profession themselves. I understand "cop humor" - it's dark - but this ain't it.
How could this officer ever take a stand in a case and expect a jury to believe him about anything?
