The inflation rate next fall will do wonders for GOP popularity.

And Senator Raised Fist (R-MO) is out there complaining that this would "chill free speech." LOL. Just like removing anti-racist books from school curricula, right Josh?

Who would have thought that the former caddie who owes everything to Trump and whose job was goose stepping internet shit talker in chief wouldn’t comply with norms?

I think a lot of the grifters and opportunists in the party have found themselves overwhelmed by the true believers.

We're starting to see some indications in special elections that some are just getting tired of Trump's act, going against whoever he endorses.

Amanda Chase ran for the R nomination for governor in Virginia and got absolutely trounced in the primary. She's Trumpist to her rotten core. There's no appetite for that shit here. It's why Glenn Youngkin started with a "softer" R platform before some of his true views came to light.

There are places -- Mentally Incapable Marjorie's district, for instance -- where the sheer numbers are enough to win. But in a lot of medium-to-lighter red districts, debating the merits of the 2020 "steal" is a sure way to continue to shed centrists who want to know what Republicans are going to do moving forward.

And Roe/voting rights/fascism might be enough of a devil's cauldron to get the usual "midterm malaise" voters on the Democratic side to turn out in 2022. I don't know, because we're still more than a year out, but I'm not feeling a Tea Party-type coordinated revolution in progress. "Trump was robbed" is a pretty lousy platform to rally voter interest.

The more the GOP makes a hard right turn, the more difficult it will be to make an already minority group follow in lockstep. As HanSenSE mentioned, Trump's preferred candidates aren't carrying his base in a majority of special elections. The farther we get from the farce, the fewer sheep he can fleece.

There are too few of them, and they will dwindle in number by the time midterms roll around.
