I knew Jim Thorpe was good but I didn’t realize he was “top 10 all-time money list” good.

Bryson makes final 16 at Long Drive Championship. I recently saw Bryson and Kyle Berkshire, the world No. 1 long driver, testing swings in a golf vlogger's video. It's a miracle of biomechanics and clubhead design for a takeback past 270 degrees and still maintain proper contact. Try it sometime.

Anyone remember Evan "Big Cat" Williams, from the wood driver era?

The LPGA is putting Palm Springs and “The Dinah Shore” in its rear view mirror; taking a cash grab for a move to Houston. I’m guessing it won’t land at the one place in town worth playing (Champions), but we’ll see.

Big oil wins again. And that's a page straight out of the PGA Tour, walking away from tradition and a fan base to harvest more money for the players.

If the tour doesn't walk from the fans, then the players will walk away from the Tour.

    Indeed.
Out of all the bone-headed corporate-caused moves of long term events, this might be the most surprising. It's the one LPGA event that ever gets covered on local media here in SoCal; a couple of the morning shows (including KTLA, which I believe outdraws GMA and TTS) do live remotes from there.

That is a huge shock. Wow. I've covered a handful of Dinahs at Mission Hills.

So instead of jumping into the pond, will the winner and her caddie have to climb an oil derrick?

A media friend (radio guy) posted about this a couple of days ago on FB. He said he got a PM from Amy Alcott endorsing the move. Amy, I believe, was the first to jump into the 18th hole water hazard.

A bit off the current topic, but I had to pass it on. As my regular foursome was walking off the 18th yesterday, a guy was hitting off the 10th tee. He pull hooked into some serious shrubbery. He looked at the head of his driver with serious pain and grievance and said quite loudly, "I paid $500 so that this would never happen again!"

They need to find a course where the water at 18 is inhabited by gators and killer snakes; then I’ll watch.
