This should be nailed to the door at every house of worship everywhere.

Hope you feel better. Take care of yourself.

Thanks. Although I hate myself that you quoted it before I fixed the egregious affect/effect error.

I have a hard time figuring out what a religious exemption entails. Like, I know there are some who don’t follow modern medicine ( Christian Scientists, maybe?), but on the whole, how does your religion qualify you to say no? Doesn’t seem very Christ-like.

It doesn’t, but if you hold a “sincerely held belief” that you cannot follow a mandate because of your religion, you get a pass. Never mind most religions have no such prohibition against modern medicine (Christian Scientists among the few exceptions) but if you claim it, it’s very hard to counter it.

Maybe this is all a plot to make charter schools the norm rather than the exception.

There isn't a religious exemption for this. I'm a Christian, and I'm not gonna quote St. Thomas Aquinas or the pope - neither of whose opinions are canon - but, simply, Romans 13: 1-3

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.

Paul wrote that about Nero's government. Nero.

There's nothing to see here as it relates to Christianity. The exception to Romans 13:1-3 would be something contrary to the teachings of Jesus (for example, waterboarding, or even flying the plane that dropped bombs in WWII). But there is nothing here like that.

Washington State University's process, detailed in stories in the Seattle Times and Jon Wilner's Hotline, is pretty extensive. You submit a petition for exemption. It goes to HR, which redacts the applicant's name, department and position title and sends it on to a committee.
Here's the exemption request form. It's an interesting read:

Hundreds have applied; few have been chosen to receive a break from the obligations of basic human decency, a value that Jesus himself is said to have espoused.

That fifth question is a helluva way to trip people up. The others are good but can be BS’d but that fifth question is really going to ruin it for people.

My answer would be, "I was a toddler and have no recollection of even getting the vaccines. I just know I got them."

Nah. The vast majority of people have had FDA-approved vaccines without ever having signed off. I dare you to find my pre-K kids' signatures on the forms authorizing their receiving (insert here) vaccine.
