The 2021 Running NASCAR/IMSA/other racing things thread

This is a thing that was tweeted with zero chill last night.

 

“… will do what we think is necessary to hype the rivalry and sell more tickets, because we haven’t had a good rivalry since Jeff & Dale in the mid-1990s.”

 

Next-generation car testing from the Charlotte road course, first time this many teams have had the car in a group setting.

 

The stream of Day 2 of testing has better production values and actual hosts.

 

Wow. Watched about 30 seconds and thought, "Hey, that sort of looks like a Mustang." Haven't been able to tell the cars apart without the decals for a good 30 years.

 

Just came here to post this. That's definitely NOT the direction I thought Tony would go next.

 

Leah Pruett’s his fiancée, so I kind of expected this … but not as a two-car team.

 

Dale Jr. on the new Cup car: better braking (so much that at the Bowman-Gray test he had to change how he used the brake pedal), turns better and much stronger coming off a corner (that’s the larger tires, I think).

 

I will be interested in seeing how it drives on bigger tracks. Admittedly I haven’t paid much attention to the earlier tests. I’d think you’d want something that’s a little harder to drive?

 

It’s championship week and no one cares, it seems.

I’m surprised no one brought up Matt DiBenedetto’s propensity for sticking his foot in his mouth.
