    Yes based on past performances, I'd agree. However, he's still younger than Phil when Phil won his first green jacket. I can't recall a player ever winning majors at a young age, then coming up empty for an extended period, THEN winning a couple later (I guess Gentle Ben, but that was only two total). BUT, I think that Rory could be the first guy to do that.

    Ernie comes to mind as a guy who snuck in a late one. As you know, there aren't many guys who win 4+ manors, and most of them win them in a small window. Floyd is remarkable in that he won 4, and the smallest gap between wins was about 4 years as I recall.

    Part of the appeal of the Masters is that certain players seem destined to win at least one - Norman and Els jump to mind - and don't. I hope Rory isn't part of that group.

    It's early, but Spieth won three in a span of 11 majors (2015 Masters to 2017 Open). He's got four top-3s in the 16 since. Only five have the career grand slam. But 12 have won three of the four: Five missing the Masters, two missing the U.S. Open, three missing the PGA, two missing the Open.

    Watson never winning the PGA, unbelievable. (Or Nancy Lopez or Sam Snead never winning the US Open.)

    I know Phil's been oh so close (Winged Foot, Ogilvy, wow that stings) but he's never been an Open guy to me, whereas Watson and Arnie SHOULD'VE won the PGA and same with Snead on the Open.

    He's been runner-up SIX times. The bigger shock is that he won at Muirfield. I never thought he'd win the Open.
