Considering what the talent level will be, may as well merge with the WAC.

Did Marshall have no interest in the MAC/the MAC have no interest in Marshall?

I get the impression that UTSA is making a public commitment to their football program. Apparently Texas Tech was making inquiries. Hope they backed the right guy here.

"Here are the full numbers on Jeff Traylor’s contract.

Salary starts at $2.5 million, rises to $3.5 million in year 10. That’s already the No. 3 salary in the Group of 5 now.

Buyout starts at $7.5 million. It kicks in “before or during” Year One, so he’s locked in."

So they make him pay up to leave. What does the school have to pay him if it executes him?

Yes, but a much better fit geographically and on par with the Sun Belt.

I think it's cute you think that if Tech or TCU or whomever wants him that $7 million is an obstacle.

It should be an obstacle for at least this year. If he wanted either of those gigs, why sign now and create an immediately obligation? Why not hold off for now?

Because he's not guaranteed to get any of those jobs but did just guarantee himself $28 million

I disagree. Marshall has history with Appalachian State and Georgia Southern from their time the SoCon, and JMU/ODU aren't far away. The Sun Belt has far surpassed the MAC in football acumen, IMHO and there's growth potential in the Belt that doesn't exist in the MAC, which essentially is what it is and probably won't evolve much from where it is now.
