I agree with everything you say and it all comes down to common sense and trusting science and doctors. But I have a hard time articulating this to my MAGA ass-hat friends and family. I've always had trouble arguing with idiots because there's such a thing as people so fucking stupid you almost don't know where to start.

 

Florida is more sociopolitically balkanized than most states. Scarborough has made the accurate point that Florida is like five states in one bag.

I will say this for Florida, there was more public mask-wearing even in my very red county than I expected. More than I've seen in, say, Nashville or St. Louis.

 

The problem with all these graphs is they don’t relate to the average MAGA.

If your state is red you have a 1:1,000 greater chance to die from COVID. Blue states are 2:1000 and red is 3:1000.

Whooptie fucking do. Honestly. This isn’t moving the needle for them. Hospitalizations? Im-fucking-possible to track. Are people going? To what extent? My friend had it and they lived.

Seriously, once 5-11 have a chance to get shots, take the masks off. The damage is done. They are not buying into it unless their job, school or workplace forces them. This is like peace in the Middle East; it’s never happening.
