Liberty is most likely going to stay independent in football and in the ASUN for other sports. I'll be curious to see what happens to LT, FIU and UTEP now.

Thoughts and prayers for Trump University of Lynchburg.
I think it's incumbent on all decent institutions to refuse to schedule them in anything. See how they piece together schedules that comply with NCAA Division I membership then.
Won't happen, of course. The other dozen Division I schools in Virginia can't resist the cheap travel costs and low payout guarantees that result from TUoL's proximity.

A tornado hit Louisiana Tech's campus a couple of years ago and destroyed its baseball stadium and several other athletic facilities and buildings. And it still didn't do as much damage to the program as has been done in the past week.

Are there any G5 leagues that have room for any of the refugees? I can't keep track of all of this.

There are, but if they haven't been offered by now it's hard to see it happening. None of them fit anywhere geographically, or the most obvious fits are obviously not happening for one reason or another (like La. Tech and FIU to the Sun Belt or UTEP to the Mountain West). Unless Conference USA reformats itself into a Mongoloid league with its three survivors, three or four independents, and a couple of rising FCS teams, they're going to be hung out to dry.

If you have a seat on a lifeboat from this flaming hulk and don't take it at this point, that's on you. Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee would be fools to roll the dice that Conference USA can pull itself together. Even if it does, do you really want to be part of the zombified remains?

I thought I read that the ACC schools have signed agreements that lock the existing school up into the middle of the next decade. Am I remembering correctly?

Liberty, New Mexico St, Jacksonville St, and Sam Houston St to C-USA. (Not official yet, but it's coming) I'm sure that these moves to empower deserving FCS schools will be applauded by the rest of the FBS. I actually think that Jax St will do pretty well in that league.

Can you imagine being UMass and being passed over for that?

Western Ky and MUTS to the MAC in a few days.

The funeral of C-USA will be streamed on MySpace per their media contract.

Great, two more worthless bowl games that'll air around December 19.
