UMass and UConn should try to revive the old Yankee Conference at this point.

I don't think joining C-USA does anything for UMass or UConn football. They've already filled out a lot of their future schedules, and they have a couple payday games.

Does this mean Nashville finally gets a Meijer?

WKU is a good add for them. Decent football and an instant contender in men’s hoops. And it actually has a decent fan base in the state beyond just Bowling Green.

MTSU doesn’t add much right now besides an easy travel partner to pair with Western.

Around here, keep hearing talk about Illinois State looking to move football up to FBS and being a potential MAC target. Not sure what WKU and MTSU joining does for that or what a MAC move would do for all other Illinois State sports, especially basketball where MVC is a way better league but whispers seem to get louder and more frequent.

I don't count the number of bids that each conference receives every year to the NCAA Men's basketball tournament but my impression is that the MVC receives at large bid far more frequently than the MAC. And my only exposure to MAC football is watching a couple minutes of weeknight games on ESPN where only a handful of fans are in the stadium. But I think for a school to spend a lot of money to move up to FBS while moving to a weaker basketball conference is dumb. I cite the disaster of UConn's experience in the AAC as support for my argument.
