Those jobs make up for the prior 2 months. You (or Joe Biden) really shouldn't be boasting. He has nothing to do with any private hiring (or lack of). He's along for the ride.

Stilll more than 4 million jobs from before the pandemic don't exist. You'd never know it listening to his bullshit about all the jobs he's creating (he's a wizard!).

Plus, the labor force participation rate still down below 62 percent, meaning continued labor shortages into the future unless things change.

The crime bill very much was, in the sense that it was a response to the fact that the US had more than 20,000 murders, year over year, from 1987 to 1995.

From 1996-2019, it never once topped 20,000 - and remember, the population grew by nearly 80 million people between 1990 and 2019.

In 2020, it was over 21,000.

Now - we can debate the considerable harms of the crime bill. Lots of people have - and there are very reasonable arguments to be made. But many fewer people were murdered after its passage. The murder rate in 1991, 9.8, would be 34,000 murders today.

If you pull back on policing and reform the justice system, you are going to get some good things out of it - and you are probably going to get more murders.

In the sense that we're at a 20-year high in migrant encounters, it'd be hard not to. I concede some of this comes as the pandemic drew down (although, with Delta, it didn't really draw down) but it's equally clear, through stats and anecdotes, that Biden's approach to immigration is vastly different from the last two presidents.
