Well, I don't personally think one of those was legitimately for any good reason.

But the crime bill is a much more interesting discussion than it was made out to be then (three strikes, yeah, get tough!) or now. And, in 2021, we're seeing again, if you're not prepared to address this complex issue with great nuance and an absence of hysteria, you'll first get more murders (which, we did), and, after that, a population that wants more of the policing that produced multiple brutal murders in the last five years.

The vote in Minneapolis was resounding Tuesday night. Plus, Jacob Frey - who opposed the public safety resolution - did better than he did in 2017. He also got much more power, since a resolution passed transferring some power from the city council to the mayor.

    How Jacob Frey won reelection

Many voters are simply opting out of any public discussion about it - they've come to understand there's no point in saying anything that might be construed as morally monstrous - and voting for status quo. A more reasonable discussion might have actually produced a better police force in Minneapolis, but little room was made for it. Based on the vote, the force and Frey don't have to change much at all. They might change, but they don't have to. They can point to the scoreboard.

Nothing is stopping NY from doing the same. They could kick 10 Republicans out on their keisters easy.

Keeping Garland off SCOTUS looks more like a blessing in disguise with every passing day. He would have been the Dems’ John Paul Stevens. (Granted, still better than the Trumpy Trio we wound up with.)

    Just like Hunter's laptop.

People Tied to Project Veritas Scrutinized in Theft of Diary From Biden’s Daughter

Project Veritas did not publish Ms. Biden’s diary, but dozens of handwritten pages from it were posted on a right wing website on Oct. 24, 2020, at a time when President Donald J. Trump was seeking to undermine Mr. Biden’s credibility by portraying his son, Hunter, as engaging in corrupt business dealings. The posting was largely ignored by other conservative outlets and the mainstream media.

The website said it had obtained the diary from a whistle-blower who worked for a media organization that refused to publish a story about it before the election. It claimed to know where the actual diary was located and that the whistle-blower had an audio recording of Ms. Biden admitting it was hers.
