Most interesting to me about the Rodgers mess - and largely unquestioned so far - is why he was on the field at all without proof of vaccination or a formal medical/religious exemption.

Was he not in violation of NFL policy? Was he not in violation of Packers team policy?

Was he not lying when asked if he had a sign-off from the NFL medical office?

I mean, we're halfway through the season, right?

My understanding. ... but I may be incorrect on some details. The league and the team knew his (lack of) vaccination status. Certainly the league knew he was unvaccinated, because he applied for an exemption.

What he said in public has nothing to do with what they knew or the protocols he was supposed to be adhering to. It would have been left to the Packers to enforce the league's Covid protocols. ... and they may not have been.

Obviously, he led people to believe he was vaccinated, so nobody outside the organization was questioning it when they saw him maskless. And nobody from the Packers or the league came out and set the record straight.

According to the league's covid protocols, he would have been being tested more and in various situations, was supposed to be masked up and he wouldn't have been allowed on the team charter and would have had to travel separately (and be tested before he could rejoin the team).

It appears he violated the covid protocols in that he was seen at the facility without a mask, at least around the media. I saw a report saying that he did mask up around coaches and teammates, but no idea if that is true. It's also not entirely clear if he was flying on the team charter, which would have been a violation of the protocols. The Packers were supposed to be enforcing the protocols, and if they didn't. ... there can be fines, but there is no suspension mandated. My guess is that because it was Aaron Rodgers, they weren't enforcing diddly squat.

I think he said he was getting tested daily because he wasn't vaxxed and that he intended to explain 'how' he had immunity.

But I also read that he went to a raging halloween party.

I wonder what penalty - if any - the league can levy against the player and the team?

He was just putting his team’s season at risk.

It would be a lot easier to punish him if he were black.

Hefty fines and draft picks for the team, like they did with the Saints. And I think the number is $14k for a player with possible suspensions.

It would be a lot easier to punish him if he wasn't a franchise quarterback who has won 3 MVP awards, has been an immensely popular player, and has been a face of the league for how they have marketed their product.

has state farm pulled their campaign?

this is not the onion, dude had a deal with a health care organization:

GREEN BAY, Wis. — A Wisconsin health care organization has ended a nine-year partnership with Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers after the quarterback detailed his reasoning for avoiding the three COVID-19 vaccinations endorsed by the NFL.

A statement posted on Twitter by Prevea Health said the company and Rodgers mutually agreed to end their partnership, effective Saturday. Prevea Health and Rodgers had been partners since 2012.

The statement said Prevea Health "remains deeply committed to protecting its patients, staff, providers and communities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes encouraging and helping all eligible populations to become vaccinated against COVID-19 to prevent the virus from further significantly impacting lives and livelihoods."

The Raiders and Saints lost draft picks for mask violations. I don't see how Green Bay doesn't lose a pick.

There hasn't been a week this season, by the way, that the on-field action has been the center of national discussion. That's the Goodell brand.
