If that's off of the Chris Christy link regarding his new book, here you go, different link to the NYT story. No paywall this way.

Short answer - after the event at the White House last October where forty something people caught Covid, including Trump and Christy, Trump called Christy in the hospital. Trump didn't inquire about Christy's condition. He wanted to know whether Christy was going to publicly blame him for Christy being infected. Given that it is going public this way, it would appear that Christy has some hard feelings about that after all.

Trump called Chris Christie when they were both hospitalized with COVID-19 to make sure he wouldn't be blamed for the infection, book says

    • "Chris Christie's book says Trump called when they were both in the hospital with COVID-19, per the NYT.

    • Christie said Trump wanted to ensure he wouldn't be blamed for Christie's infection.

    • "Are you going to say you got it from me?" Trump asked, per the extract.
When Chris Christie was hospitalized with COVID-19 last October, then-President Donald Trump called to make sure he wouldn't be blamed for the infection, according to Christie's new book, which was cited by The New York Times.

Trump's phone call to the former New Jersey governor came during a coronavirus outbreak at the White House in 2020, the Independent reported, which resulted in at least 48 staffers testing positive for the virus and Trump himself being hospitalized.

Trump made the call while he was hospitalized at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland, the excerpt cited in The Times said.

Trump was admitted to Walter Reed on October 2, and Christie checked himself into the Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey the day later.

The president was concerned by the optics of Christie's hospitalization, the book excerpt said.

"Are you going to say you got it from me?" Trump asked him, according to the excerpt.

The revelation comes from Christie's book, "Republican Rescue: Saving the Party from Truth Deniers, Conspiracy Theorists, and the Dangerous Policies of Joe Biden," which is set to be released on Wednesday.

A representative for Trump did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

In the book, Christie also detailed how unwell he became after being hospitalized. He wrote that his priest arrived in the hospital and prayed over him, rubbing oils on his forehead and signing the cross, The Times reported."

Herman Cain is the highest profile person who died from this, but he was a black guy and a fringe presidential candidate so few cared. I’m not one to wish for folks’ deaths, but that’s the only way some folks would’ve paid attention.

I lost track of the article where I first saw this, but if you google Louis Gohmert Texas Attorney General there are plenty of stories to be found.

It looks like Gohmert feels it likely that he is not re-elected to Congress. He has established an exploratory committee to run for Texas AG, replacing current AG Ken Paxton. This wasn't a huge surprise in itself, but he made news with this quote:

"Gohmert implied during his announcement that Paxton might not be available to take office because of his legal problems. "We've got to have an attorney general that's undistracted by moral and legal issues of his own and who can get elected a year from now," Gohmert said in a video of Tuesday’s event.

Paxton’s reelection campaign has been dogged by a federal corruption probe and a years-old securities fraud charge. Troye said Gohmert may be entering the race hoping to pick up Paxton’s base of support if the embattled attorney general becomes ineligible to run because of developments in these investigations."

Looks like the Reagan Rule, "Thou shalt speak no ill of a fellow Republican", is dead.

Louie Gohmert Says He Just Might Want To Be Texas' Next Attorney General

I wish I could find the first article where I saw this, as it included some classic Gohmert such as misspelled words in his filing with Texas to enter the race.

    Another here, including this:
Louie Gohmert exploring run against Texas AG Ken Paxton

"The website about Gohmert's exploratory effort said Texas needs an attorney general "whose top attorneys working for him have not found it necessary to send a letter to the FBI urging an investigation into corruption of their boss." That is a reference to the FBI probe that Paxton has prompted over claims from former deputies that he abused his office to aid a wealthy donor. Paxton has denied any wrongdoing."

Gohmert's web site does not mention Gohmert himself being under investigation with regard to his connection to 1/6.

Gohmert also might find himself in a prison cell. Hubris is a powerful drug.

After 10 months, they let the Glenn run free
'Cause the Democrats had turned to CRT
There were book burnings and protests
There was threats and yelling and camo vests

The Biden Administration is a crew with its wokeness underground
    And a perfect disguise above
Outside the cities lies a heart made of stone
But the elites will give no love
