Welp, SCOTUS is tipping its hand. Roe is getting overturned.

No chance Roe/Casey stands after this, from what I'm hearing.

That ruling will certainly have no effect on next year’s Senate races.

It was always going to, but the timeline certainly does up as when McConnell refused to hold hearings for Garland and then shoved bitch face down our throats.

Didn't watch/haven't caught up (perks of a new job!). You all think outright overturn or let it be a state-by-state basis?

Overturning Roe would allow a state-by-state basis. Some states would ban abortion. Others would limit it and other states would allow it.

It's likely to be some state-by-state construct, if it's anything at all.

Regardless of my own thoughts on abortion, I'm surprised the left let it get to this. The prominence of the issue slipped on the left over recent years. I think the majority of America, by some margin, favors the availability of an abortion.

For very red states, I suspect it won't change much. It is already extremely difficult to get an abortion in those states because they are very few clinics and it's a financial burden to get to them. Now women wanting abortions in those states will have to cross state lines. What does that practically mean? It means middle-class white girls and rich white girls will be able to get their abortions. It means minorities living in states where it's outlawed, and poor women living in those states will carry those pregnancies to term creating more babies reliant on the state.
