The guy driving 100 on the freeway is protecting the public from an active threat.
If you take the idea of protecting us from all threats to its logical conclusion, you can easily slip into some bad territory. Things like sketchy warrants or warrantless searches based off of bad information, in the name of breaking up some plot or other. Or, as we've seen with the FBI's handling of a number of recent investigations, actually egging on if not straight up manufacturing and instigating plots as they infiltrate various organizations.
All of it, ostensibly, is for the public's own good. It's also incredibly unconstitutional on a number of levels.
I don't want to speak for him, but I think that's where Ragu was going with that.

That makes sense. I wasn’t thinking that deep down the line what I read what Ragu said, but that makes sense. My basic thought is the police—whether or not is expressly in their constitutional job descriptions—serve a function of addressing and keeping the public safe from some threats. But yeah, I see where you want there to be a line and not have them address all threats: potential or other.

    Thanks Batman for the clarification.

Daunte Wright was a bad human being who was going to kill someone if this cop had not taken out the trash.

There are still racist dipshits parroting the lies that George Floyd od'd on Fentenyl and assaulted a pregnant woman.

    Haven't those things been debunked?

Now that Denzel Washington has starred as Macbeth, I guess cultural appropriation is no longer a sin against art and humanity.

Did SP just play a long-con just so he could get another Hat Man tweet posted?
