As Gary Player told my friend after a pro-am,

    "Take a lesson. Then quit."

There is a guy in my senior league who's just terrible. I mean, he never escapes double-digit scores on at least one hole. But he shows up twice a week and enjoys himself. Also refuses to listen to any friendly advice, as I learned on one of our first team partnerships when I suggested that 3 woods were hard to hit out of the rough. He is a valuable partner however, because he's one of those guys who when the stars align and he swings well, he really belts. So he's good for one or two pars a round, too, and with his handicap, that's money in the bank.
Point is, he's having fun, he's a diligent golfer and valued companion, and fuck that dick Gary Player.

IMHO, rule 1 in golf, I don’t care if you’re a Plus 4 index/HCP, and the other guy is a 30, don’t offer advice unless asked. Let the dude enjoy the game the way he/she has developed their game.

Unsolicited advice in golf kills it for everyone. Let them play however they want to play. Only exception is to tell them to hurry the f**k up when needed.

Not railing on you Gee specifically, so no offense intended.

No offense taken. My only advice was, "gosh Charlie, that's a tough shot."

Sadly, quitting is not an option, considering my profession.

I simply don't practice enough, thus the lingering bad habits. I've actually gotten pretty decent around the greens and from 30 yards and in. It's just the getting there that's been problematic, ha.

My wife and I tried to play golf on our honeymoon and didn't make it to the halfway house. She played in high school so she wasn't a complete noob, but she had years of rust and got frustrated fast. So at one point I told her to slow down, take a practice swing and added some other swing tip. Well, that was the end of that and the honeymoon went dark for a bit. Twenty-one years of marriage later and we have yet to tee it up again.

If you’re solid in those parts, wedge to fairway is your key to breaking 90.

Well, the senior driver I bought this past spring and never used, got used today. My playing partner tried it and, swinging up to 151 mph, finished the range session with a long drive of 288 yards.

I don’t get it, if you’re swinging 151 why use a senior flex shaft?

He wanted to try it. Buying a new driver in the spring. Probably get another 20-30 yards.
