@lakefront Oh my goodness! That lineup of movies...

I have copies of almost all of them but have seen maybe a quarter of them on a big screen.

There was an episode of The Venture Bros. with a small but great subplot/running gag about Rusty Venture spending a quiet evening at home, watching the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas starring Dolly Parton, because he thinks it's a porno.

Adam McKay’s work has become insufferably moral and long-winded.

Don’t Look Up wasn’t cheap to make either. The ending scene alone…not cheap.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was good. They did a great job of mixing the past and the present of the franchise

I keep rewatching scenes from The Suicide Squad.

    So violent…
    So funny…
    So well done…

Rewatched The Doors. Not only is it the cokiest of Oliver Stone's movies - which is quite an accomplishment - but it's also displays a Val Kilmer stripped down to his essence. Scene after scene, he brings his considerable acting chops to playing the most supercilious, pretentious celebrity of the 20th century.

My rating? Five lines of coke.... and five upturned-lip sneers.

    No Time to Die.

Solid sendoff for Craig. Just wish he and Ana de Armas had more screen time to work that Knives Out magic.

The movie was well done. Left me very anxious at parts. Love that Ariana Grande makes fun of herself.

I disagree that the tone was wrong for today. It’s taking the fight over climate change to the absurd. It lampoons science denial and celebrity culture well. Yeah there’s some pieces in there that hit close to home with Covid, but it’s really because there is such politicization over science. It even takes a shot at the whattabout crowd, which I’m sure doesn’t make the whattabouts very happy.

Now, that all said, this movie is not going to hit with everyone. It is a little preachy and really spends a lot of time on pointing out the misogynistic nature of society. Jonah Hill really needed to be reined in. I wish Hill and the double standard for women were more subtle. It would have done a better job.
