The roller coaster used to be normal for the Southern Plains. A couple of days of wearing a coat, a day or two where a sweatshirt suffices, and a day of two of short sleeves before the next blue norther barrels through. Definitely not used to a Christmas where the clover is trying to pop up in the lawn.

Nothing like thunder boomers that shake the whole damn house and roll for eight or ten seconds.

Suburbs north of Denver, near Boulder burning down due to grass/wildfire on Dec. 30. At least two towns completely evacuated.

    Fact:
Until today, I've never mowed the yard while wearing a t-shirt and shorts nor had most of the windows in the house open on New Year's Day.
I'm about to fire up my smoker.

A balmy 70 in the Southern Appalachian mountains today. And the high on Friday may not get out of the 30s.

I forecast winters based on my neighbor, who fixes up junk snowblowers and sells them. He's had a driveway sized blower for sale chained to a tree next to his garage for several weeks.

I'm buying more golf balls today.

We're under a tornado warning right now in Warren County, Kentucky. (Bowling Green.) Less than a month after the deadly tornadoes that ravaged BG, Mayfield, Dawson Springs and a couple other places.

Woke up to 6 inches of snow, our first significant snowfall since April.

It is currently 77 in the mid Appalachian mountains. Sunday night/Monday morning is looking at a possible 2 inches of snow in the lower elevations.
