Quite a colorful New Year's Day on the national weather map.

I think that cold tongue licking eastern North Dakota is gonna be tickling my nethers in a day or two.

For some reason Google seems to think I'm in western Kentucky. It alerted me to a tornado warning about half an hour ago.

That’s odd. When I used to mow, I always wore

Never mind. Just realized what you meant.

Today is one of those where the high temperature is set at 12:01 am and it falls the rest of the day. I hate those days.

It was 80 degrees here in the Deep South yesterday.

We had about an inch of snow last night. A few days ago, the high was more than 60.

70 yesterday here in Central Virginia, 63 today. Wore shorts out both days. Looking at 4-6 inches of snow tomorrow morning.

Our snow is mostly flurries and snow showers. I think it just went below freezing in the past couple of hours, so the last I checked whatever was falling wasn't even sticking. It has been raining most of the day, though, so it wouldn't shock me if we have some icy roads in the morning.
The biggest thing is the temperature drop. This time yesterday it was still about 75 degrees. Right now it's 29, with a wind chill of 19.

I think I spied a flake or two of flurries last night, which extends the streak of years I have seen wintry precipitation.

For the record, DFW has never recorded a winter without at least a trace of frozen precipitation, which surprises me greatly.
