I wasn't a huge Cheap Trick fan since I was still just a kid, but for a brief period in the late 70s they were the shit.

This is probably their best song in musical terms, but it was entirely 5 minutes too long. Modeled after "Miss You" by the Stones a year before, no doubt.

A 4-minute radio edit as a single would have been huge, although uptight late-1970s PDs might have blanched at the word "Hell" as a title. Probably same reason Pink Floyd's contemporaneous "Run Like Hell" never became a hit.

Holy shit that's amazing. I have seen the Prince version at Coachella and I saw Tears for Fears do a killer version of it when they opened for Hall & Oates a few years ago but man that is inspired.

I saw KC about 15 years ago, when Adrian Belew was still the frontman, at a ratty old theater that seats maybe 250. Fripp was (is?) apparently paranoid about people shooting video or taping the band's shows, so he had security literally patting down every person as they entered the theater.

I was with my brother in law and his brother, who laughed as he was frisked and said, "Whaddaya know? The show begins right at the door!"

This is how I know I’m old. Heard it on Sirius, liked it, then saw the video and thought “Lock up that vandal and her crew!” She can be cellmates with Carrie Underwood for trashing her ex’s pretty little four-wheel drive.
