Got a message from the action man: it's Bowie's birthday.

His best song by a few thousand galaxies.

Great song, but I’ll go with “Life on Mars?”

On a related note, his “new” previously unreleased album “Toy” is really, really good.

So many great songs. This one is fantastic, but I like "Suffragette City," the later song "Modern Love" and the OG, "A Space Oddity".

Cyndi Lauper was pretty old for a breakout artist in the 1980s. She was 30 when "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" first charted on 12/17/83. Peaked at No. 2 for 3 weeks. Portrait 04120.

"Dedicated swallower of fascism ..." what an incredible line.

Saw Billy Bragg as an unannounced opening act for Echo and the Bunnymen around '83 or so. He just walked out alone with his electric guitar and played his set solo. He was great.

He was touring solo with Robyn Hitchcock in the mid-90s (Hitchcock had a violinist, I think his ladyfriend at the time). The man can fill a stage all by himself.

Ten Mysterious Photos That Can't Be Explained

    Now the angry old men
Say it was better back when
We used to keep the Aspidistra flying
Now it may be the case
That we can't change our fate
But there's surely no harm in trying

And ten mysterious photos that can't be explained
Are draining away the best of my day
And fragments of songs that I never wrote
Are rotting in the pockets of my winter coat

Now the world wide web is a wonderful thing
You're just a click away from all of the facts
    But there's a downside if you'vе a curious mind
    It's like heroin for autodidacts

But ten mystеrious photos that can't be explained
Are draining away the best of my day
And fragments of songs that I never wrote
Are rotting in the pockets of my winter coat

    I've been down rabbit holes
    I've seen the rabid trolls
Cackling in the twilight of the Age of Reason
One thing I've noticed as I get older
Common sense, like art, is in the eye of the beholder

Now the new breed of know nothings are flooding my screen
Now they scare me they're so god damn sure
    They look like reasonable folks
But the next thing you know
Is they're screaming "I don't want your cure!"

And ten mysterious photos that can't be explained
Are draining away the best of my day
And fragments of songs that I never wrote
Are rotting in the pockets of my winter coat

    The conspiracy hacks
    The cyberchondriacs
    Gripped by their fevered imagination
    They've switched the filters off
    Too much is not enough
You know that you can overdose on information

Ten mysterious photos that can't be explained
Are draining away the best of my day
And fragments of songs that I never wrote
Are rotting in the pockets of my winter coat

Songwriters: Billy Bragg / Jack Valero

God, I love Texas singer-songwriters. Even if she *is* from Lake Charles.
