Similarly, I've never known anyone who had AFLAC, yet they have some of the most iconic and repetitive commercials going.

I do. I can’t speak for anyone else, but my experience has been outstanding. Their customer service is as good as it gets and I was happy with the way it went when my car was totaled.

Had never heard negative stuff about them before.

Haven’t seen any bow on a luxury car ads this year. Am noticing a lot of SUVs driving through deep snow but somehow keeping the paint job pristine, with no trace of slush or salt.

I think there's one where a girl creates a runway for Santa to deliver a car.

I've seen more of the one where people are borrowing someone's car to go on some fun day out. Not sure what the point of it is.

This crypto.com people encouraging people to sink their (real) money into it so they can be feel like an astronaut or one of the Wright Bros. is reckless as hell and infuriates me a little more with each viewing.

Full-blown anti-war pacifist here. I've had USAA for the past 35 years -- Gwen's Mom and Dad were active-duty officers during and after WWII -- so I got added as a beneficiary's spouse, and it's been excellent. Because they're so frickin' large -- their main headquarters in San Antonio covers two freeway exits -- we've gotten competitively-priced auto and home insurance, plus a great rate on the motorhome loan and mutual funds. They easily beat State Farm and GEICO when I was shopping around just before we got married.

Surprisingly for a government-based company, they're extremely good at getting right on the task of chasing down/hounding other insurance companies in the event of an accident. When we got rear-ended by a kid who wasn't supposed to be driving his grandfather's truck, USAA made sure we got a quick, fair settlement and first-rate repairs while they dealt with all the red tape the other insurance was trying to toss at us.

Some actual ex-military types might be able to clarify, but I think USAA might not have been available for enlisted or reserve, which is why they're pushing their brand a little more publicly.

(Plus, I get the biggest kick out of some of the junk mail addressed to "retired military," thanking me for my service. You're welcome.)

Now there’s a different crypto joint encouraging people to put their retirement money into some kind of “tax-advantaged” IRA. Presumably it isn’t the same kind of tax advantage that lets you write off losses at the track.

This country is Potterville now. In 10 years there will be commercials for uncut heroin on basic cable.

The new Zaxby's "Guy riding a chicken wing" commercial is fingernails on the chalkboard grating to me. So fucking stupid I want to throw my drink glass through the TV.

I wish anyone involved with the Funderstruck Carnival Cruise Lines commercial would get rotovirus on one of their terrible boats. So annoying.

Trying to decide which I dislike more: Virgin Cruise Line using "Like A Virgin" to promote its line or Applebees trying to lure customers back with the theme from "Cheers."

It's a takeoff on an older YouTube meme "Guy on a Buffalo."

The Verizon 5G ad with the young woman running, then buying her $6 coffee and then saying she uses it to watch Disney.

Nope. She has all of the characteristics of a career first/no man young professional. She uses that 5G for lots of porn. Not Mickey Mouse. Unless that’s a genre.
