Christ, they drive faster down my street. This was for some NBC promo so they didn’t want to rip up the cars, but it doesn’t exactly make me want to see the race. Apparently Junior was driving the 48.

Just hand them Radio Flyers. At least that way, it doesn't add to L.A.'s smog issue.

And, I'm sure, this is proof that "just when you thought NASCAR couldn't go any lower" ... at least until next week or month.

You were warned, but speed ain’t everything. This is gonna be hilarious.

At least the numerous Big Ones won't occur at 200-plus MPH ...

They should play the Benny Hill music throughout over the PA system.

    Two words: Bowman Gray.

"Nobody in California gave a shit when we raced at Ontario or Riverside or Fontana so..." leans over, takes a bump "let's put on an even worse show down town."

But Bowman Gray is Bowman Gray. It’s not a made-for-TV farce in a football stadium.

I've been fortunate enough to cover football and watch races there.

The last live racing I was able to take my dad to was at Bowman Gray.
He's still living, but I doubt I'll ever be able to get him back to a track, so that was special.

Now ... about the idiocy of the chase ... and stages ... and moving a Labor Day weekend tradition to Fontana ...

Watching a few minutes of practice just now, I think the bigger issue is going to be less the speed of the cars and more the tight confines of the track. There were only five cars or so running in this practice session and you could see how much trouble they were having staying tight coming out of the corners. Once you put all kinds of traffic out there I think you're going to have a lot of cars getting squeezed into the walls.
Other than that, it looks like any other short track race.
