That's not what I'm thinking of. What I'm talking about was during Desert Storm and would have been in 1991. The ship shot up a bunch of Iraqis on an oil platform, not another ship. I want to think it was one of the frigates. There was always talk about whether or not the Iraqis were trying to surrender. The ship got the combat action ribbon, though.

Yep. That's it. It was Nicholas. She was part of our sister squadron.
I was on a Knox Class frigate. We were anti-submarine warfare. The Perry Class frigates were anti-air.

I don't know if it's the tallest, but Fontana Dam near the North Carolina/Tennessee border is pretty dang tall.

In what war did Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis take up arms on the same side?

The obvious guess would be the Mexican-American War. I think most of the major military leaders (and many of the political ones) in the Civil War also fought in that one.

It would be before that. Lincoln was already in Congress by that point and wanted to know the exact spot on the map U.S. troops were attacked, the event which led for a call for a declaration of war.

The Black Hawk War, or rebellion, whatever it was called. Tippancanoe and Tyler too.
