Covid Live Updates: Governors in 4 States Plan to Lift Mask Mandates

 

This week, two guys I went to HS with have died of Covid. Both were in their early 50s and were retired cops. I know that one was unvaxxed, but I’m not sure about the other. Both left teenage kids. I wasn’t friends with either one so it’s not a personal loss, but it’s so senseless.

 

Worcester, the second largest city in Massachusetts, lifted its mask mandate last night effective 2/18, the start of midwinter school vacation week.

 

How did the Dems let it get this far?

 

The messaging from the Dems on masks SHOULD be, "We've done all we can, we encourage people to wear masks, but from here on out - you've had your chance to be vaxxed and you are on your own. "

 

We’re going to be on our own from here on out.

My town just lifted its indoor mask mandate, going back to the prior "suggested" policy. I play golf with the chairman of the board of health. He said repeatedly last summer that the goal of the board was to only enact policies it was sure would have over 90 percent compliance. Now the town has like a 90 percent fully vaxxed rate and most of those are boosted, too. So I can see a good number of folks getting restless with the mask mandate.

Truth is I think a lot of mass-transit city types like me will be wearing masks for a long time to come.
