I liked Ballentine Ale when I could get it. It was part of the Falstaff group, which Pabst owned at one time.

The corporate history of these breweries reminds me of the newspaper industry.

Was a religious Honey Brown drinker in my 20s but damn if I can tolerate the taste now. Still see it at the beer distributor usually.

I never knew you could get Ex in the States. I have been a dedicated 50 drinker for years (just as my old man and his brother were) and I will buy Ex and Old Vienna on occasion too.

Can't find Rolling Rock around here either. When I was on a real tight budget, there was a chain grocery store near me (not in Texas) that sold Pearl Light. There was also this beer called Red, White and Blue that sold for 1.68 a six-pack in the early 1980s.

Wish we could get Old Style around here. The only time I ever drank it was my only trip to Billy Goat's in Chicago.

I was going to say Honey Brown. There was about a four-month period when I was in college when it was everywhere and was my go-to, then almost overnight it vanished.

I really liked Killian's back in the day. You could get it lots of places when you couldn't get Bass or Harp. Now it's like 8.99 a six pack, and that's up in microbrew territory. If I'm gonna pay that I'll pay a buck more and get some thing good.

Out West, the fastest way to get a "heater" was shoot Mickey's Big Mouth down.

    Don't see any more:

    Lowenbrau ("let it be Lowenbrau")
    Burgie
Old English ("Don't let the smooth taste fool you")

Ballentine was the “three rings,” right?

Before I was legal to drink you could get a six-pack of Country Club Malt Liquor tall boys for $1.99.

Yes. Sponsors of the New York Yankees. A homer was a "Ballentine Blast," according to Mel Allen.

Rheingold was the Mets’ beer. On channel 9. Yankees were on channel 11.
