Grew up with magazines, Time, SI, Life, People, MAD - really enjoyed that great "niche" they filled between the daily paper and well, books in terms of memorializing our life and times through the years. Curious which "loss" seems to be the biggest - for you personally or just in general.

And yeah, kids sneaking a peak at their dad's Playboy seems so quaint now.

    Newsweek.

It died long before they actually put it to bed, And it was sad to watch this amazing magazines so full of easily accessible stories about things you didn't read every day just wither.

I miss the relevance of covers. And now I'll have "The Cover of Rolling Stone" by Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show in my head the rest of the day. "Wanna buy five copies for my mother!"

MAD. As a kid I learned more about movies, music and books from MAD than just about anywhere else.

Great call. Being a virginal teen and reading Anna Radakovich was better than any porno.

Details also had one of the best magazine articles I've ever read...the 1993 profile of Ray Sharkey as he was dying of AIDS he insisted he didn't have.
