I remember Red White and Blue. It was hideous.

My brother and I once bought some beer called Aces High to bring with us to the World 600 in Charlotte. It tasted horrible and I wound up with a huge headache, though that might have been from the noise.

Piels was my grandfather’s beer. He’d always offer me some while we watched the Yankees games. I loved it. He’d cheer for them in his thick Eastern European Jewish accent. He loved all the Yanks — except Rick Cerone.

    “You’re a BUM, Cerone!”

Red, White and Blue was Pabst's cut-rate beer. Apparently Old Style is now under the Pabst umbrella too. You need a program to keep the brands straight.

Old Style was my go-to beer in the early '70s, especially on tap. I remember it as mellow compared to the other local favorite at the time, Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Olde English 800 is not as omnipresent as it once was. Now there's a bad swill with raisins in it.

One of the dads on a baseball team my son played on was a Lowenbrau drinker. I had a couple one night in Niagara Falls, not bad.

    Is Michelob Dark still around?

Schaefer was “the one beer to have when you’re having more than one.”

Used to be able to get Moose Drool south of the Red. Can't get it anymore.

I think the last time I had one was after a tumbleweed final when half the campus has already left.

The six-packs were shrink-wrapped with celophane instead of being held together by plastic rings, as I remember. A decent beer on a hot day, if it was cold.
