Why reopening after Covid is bad for the Dems.

COVID rates are going down like Tomi Lahren at a post finals frat party

Monk's headline is a play on his "cancel everything" piece on Mar 10, 2020.

Where major politicians with coming elections are in charge of Covid restrictions - and that's not the case everywhere - regulations of any kind are pretty close to over. To be clear: I'm not saying that's necessarily wise or correct. But the general vibe of the last 2-3 weeks is "yeah, we're going to lose a lot of elections if this keeps going."

I've been to the movie theater many times for several non-blockbuster movies.

There's no one in there. Like 8 people. House of Gucci 2 months after it opened? 4.

Now, that may not be your idea of a good movie experience, an empty theater, but...they're often empty.

Probably less so for the Marvel movies - but I get your point. Saw the Bond movie with about six others in a matinee.

I think a lot of people are sick at home with it and not telling anybody. That might have a lot to do with a downturn in numbers.

Neighbor has it. Daughter says her mom is as sick as she has ever been in her life, and I try to reassure her that the doctor can treat it now and her mom will be fine. She didn’t say a word, but her look told me a doctor isn’t involved.

The oddest experience I’ve ever had at a theater was being the only person at a midnight showing of “Wolf of Wall Street.” The film ran so long the cleaning person and I were the only people left in the 10-screen googoplex. It felt post-apocalyptic.

A couple of months prior to the pandemic, I went to see “Midway” at my regional 6-screen theater. I was the only one in there for a 9 p.m. show. I don’t recall the night of the week I went, but I thought it was odd that I was the only one in the theater.

I was never an avid movie goer anyway, but the last time I was in a theatre was Dec. 2019.

Years ago a theater manager gave us free tickets if we would go away so he could close up. It was for a late showing of The Goonies.
