Favorite band/musician you "might" worry others think is uncool

Serious love for The Gap Band right now. Dancing with the headphones on outside in the RV park last night while Gwen was on a Zoom chat. Outstanding (and a dozen other knockout songs).

 

That first album was amazing. "The Walker" is a strong No. 3 behind the two you posted (and a music bed for what seemed like two dozen commercials).

 

I hate/love (depending on which way you go) the idea of The Gaslight Anthem on this thread.

But I LOVE The Gaslight Anthem. I ride with Brian Fallon forever.

 

"The Walker" is a great song, too. Part of what makes me prefer their second album to the first is that "The Walker," "Fools Gold" and "Out of My League" are three killer singles. But the two albums are just so musically different that it's hard to compare them. They almost sound like two different bands.

When I tell people I like Fitz and the Tantrums I usually get a blank, "Who are they?" look. I just have to tell them that you've probably never heard of them by name, but I guarantee you've heard at least one of their songs in a commercial or a movie or a TV show.

Deen is a monster. His double bass powered so many of the early Shrapnel shred albums from Tony Macalpine and Marty Friedman. I wish Wild Dogs' Reign of Terror was readily available.

Late to this thread. Tom Cochrane has never been the epitome of cool, but back in the late 80s I wore out my cassette of the Victory Day album (impossible to find streaming -- though you can cobble together the tracks from YouTube):
