An empty movie theater besides me and my wife? Sounds like a fantastic movie experience to me.

We've been going. Theaters are empty, especially during the day

I took my kids to see Sing 2 over the holidays, after they got vaccinated and before Omicron went crazy.

It was weird. They closed the ticket booth and funneled everyone into one line for tickets AND concessions. Not awesome from a public health standpoint.

The theater itself was fairly empty. But the same could not be said for the Spider-Man movie on the screen next door.

I have to fight the urge to slap other people on the backs of their empty little heads*. If I wanted your narration or explanation of what you see as coded political messaging, I would have asked for it.** Streaming makes me very happy.

*Exemptions to that would be Leslie Jones and Tracy Morgan.
**I did buy a carton of popcorn for the woman who asked why those noises were coming out of Martin Freeman during Black Panther. Obviously, she had not seen Fargo The Series. We still tweet each other to talk about movies.

We did just the opposite; went to see Spider-Man instead of Sing 2. Theater was not empty, but plenty of space between everyone and we all had masks. Much more pleasant experience than I originally thought.

I saw A Quiet Place in an otherwise empty theater at a Wednesday matinee. Even with it making me hyper-aware of all the sounds coming from me, it remains one of my favorite movie-going experiences.

I was going to do my pre-pandemic thing of seeing Spider-Man in a weekday matinee to avoid the crowds, and that’s when I realized most theaters around here stopped opening that early. :( First showing at most places was 4 or 5 pm.

My 7-year old has been complaining that we did t see Sing 2 yet. But we didn’t go out when the numbers skyrocketed.
