Twitter is a cesspool with all the bots and everything else if you really dive into comments on popular threads. Does anyone actually use it as their main social media to say, hey, I'm up to this? Some people do. I've never done much more than comment on things about my sports teams.

That said, if you avoid the cesspool stuff, I still find no better source for immediate information, be it breaking news, sports, weather, whatever.

My teenagers still seem to use SnapChat a lot. I've never done it. I admit, I like TikTok way more than I should. I love that the algorithm keeps you away from its cesspool and pretty much only toward stuff that interests you. For some reason I get a lot of cat videos. I think it's listened to my wife.

And just because, I have been here since 2006 (and oddly enough covered my last game in 2004). That said, been in and out of journalism, and currently in to an extent, the whole time.

 

This was a great board and an even better forum.

 

And about three people will get that reference.

 

great post, totally agree. Teenagers are NOT on Twitter the way they were 5 years ago. Sucks for prep sports because the TikToks aren’t geared towards score updates and news notes the way Twitter is

 

You talk about the demise of the business like it's a recent development. That was 20 years in the making also.

Riffing off the Portnoy/Ingemi stuff ... I'd listen to a 2-hour podcast (even though it's not really my format) between Pearlman and Portnoy.

It'd be one of the highest listened-to podcasts ever.

 

I’m trying to figure out a comparison, but this is a place to share thoughts with people who are funny, smart, sarcastic, knowledgeable and able to relate that skillfully in a written way.

For me, it’s never been about insider knowledge; it’s about being with people who don’t bore me.

It’s like sitting at a bar to watch a game and the people next to you can banter with you at your level.
