The Hockey News is not close to what it once was?

I didn’t even know it was still in business.

THN is owned by Roustan Media.

Others did -- it's the top-selling hockey magazine in North America.

My fault. I regret the error.

It's still a content farm, and, as an aside, Graeme Roustan is a piece of shit.

Gotta admit, I could've scored an own goal there. I was of the impression that the Hockey News was still a good thing.

I mean, I'm glad The Hockey News still exists. But it's nothing compared to what it once was.

So does this mean she won’t be filing a grievance against the paper? How does this work?

I got pink-slipped two weeks after I got a positive performance review and a 5-percent raise. The only warning I had was phone call at 10 a.m. to meet my supervisor and the HR person at 2 p.m. later that day. (Enough time for me to do some real damage if I had so desired.) The only explanation I was given was that my experience and salary exceeded their budget for the position and they didn't feel I had advancement potential.

    Shit happens sometimes.

    Was your position eliminated?

Our financially struggling paper was sold and the layoffs came a couple of weeks later. We finished the paper one day around 11 a.m. and I went to lunch around 11:30. When I came back an hour or so later, all five people in the production department had been let go.

No, I was replaced by an entry-level recent college graduate. (I had nine years of experience at the time.)
