    Part of the problem is for a lot of the locals you don't get to preview pages as / after they are designed to catch mistakes for those markets, even though it would literally take minutes to proof. You give them the stuff and away it goes.

    How can you chew out someone who’s working in sweat-shop-like conditions? The morale at that place must be amazingly low.

    I was at a paper that outsourced the copy-editing to some faceless team in ... India.
    In return, we got headlines such as: "Broncos celebrate most glorious victory over Chiefs." ... Good times.

    A horrible mistake, but my parents lived near there for almost 20 years and I flew in there regularly but I always had a hard time remembering if there were two Es or just 1.

    I have to deal with remote pagination on the regular. Fortunately the paginator in me makes me count heds on prominent placement stories such as tops and CPs before I submit. I won't put "chrysanthemum" in a rail story hed, for instance.
