Pleasepleaseplease let that happen! He would get torn apart by the fanbase.

He's also 69. Who's the coach in waiting?

Not yet. I know it’s not a $$$ sport in college, but their men’s soccer team won the title a couple years ago. They have been competitive in other sports. Dropping out of Big East TV money would crush the budget.

JunksRadio doesn’t sound like a great source.

    Those are all good ones.
I’d add Washington and Ga Tech.

Georgetown issues a statement supporting Patrick Ewing despite the program being an absolute trash fire.

Georgetown issued almost the exact same statement 18 years ago to this day with Craig Esherick, and fired him 12 days later. Firing Ewing will not be as simple because he's Patrick Ewing and because he signed a new contract last year. But Esherick also had signed a new deal the year before he got canned.

And, with seasons starting to end, we're off and running.

It's the biggest DC sports morning drive show. Multiple guys went to Maryland, they are connected with enough people, and have a very good relationship with Gary Williams, that if they put something like that out there it's pretty solid.

Andy Enfield? Let Pitino go in, build things up for a year or two and then Enfield takes over a much better situation that where they are currently?

I was really hoping that Danny Manning would work out. But Not Pitino. Not that Maryland isn’t desperate, but its a move that stinks of desperation

Personally - in terms of sourcing: Fan blog < local TV sports guy < local radio sports guy < local columnist < local print beat <national print/digital beat.

I do wonder if Pitino is still considered relevant to five-stars looking for a campus to hang out at for six months before the NBA draft.

Arkansas was like that for the interregnum between the firing of Nolan Richardson and today. Couldn't sell out the 20,000-seat Bud Bowl. Now that they're tickling the AP poll again, they have the students and general fan base interested.

The eminently trustworthy Pitino says he's not going to Maryland.
