Let's worry now about keeping our own leaders from making their own stupid decisions. Putin's already made his.

If all Putin has to do is say the words "special combat readiness" to get what he wants, what stops him from taking the rest of Europe?

They can revoke all the licenses for windows and word and excel and the next time they try and use one while connected to the internet they will crash.

The very clear red line of invading a NATO-allied country. It’s a bit like the antecedent-behavior-consequence (ABC) that I had to use with my son when he was a toddler—we’ve made it very clear that we won’t intervene directly with US military forces in Ukraine because they are not a NATO member, and we’ve made it just as clear that we will invoke Article 5 and defend any NATO member he does attack. The antecedent is already there. It’s up to Putin what his behavior therefore will be, and what consequences there will be as a result.

I'll say this again. I have never seen anything like these kind of sanctions before, for a country that strives to be in the 'modern' world.
Some board historian is welcome to correct me.

They're basically being forced back into Soviet-style autarky and isolation. Which is fine with me; since Putin seems to want to rebuild the Soviet Union, might as well get the full picture...

Until the civilized world shows otherwise, Putin will do as he pleases.

Want him to stop? Stop him.

It was founded on a premise of mutual defense against Russia. Its premise has never been clearer.

Until drivers have to pay $5.00 gallon for gas, then the people of Ukraine are on their own.
