Or maybe Putin's gotten into the ether.

Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge.

Oh, believe me, I'm not enthused about the future of the planet being in the hands of a potentially senile 80-year-old and other assorted egomaniacs. But that's the hand we're dealt. There might come a time to fully embrace the suck and press the big red button. That time is not here yet. If and when it does come, we can only hope that all possible options were exhausted before the decision was made. That's the process we're going through now.

Look at Fischer's eyes when Cavett says "And you like that moment of just CRUSHING the guy" ...

... look at Fischer's eyes, so menacing, a killer, as he loves how Cavett sums it all up like that.

    So yeah, it's about crushing -- fucking crushing -- a man's soul.

Putin is Fischer: kill, kill, kill the king.

Yeah, FAE's. We've used them too, but on what were at least in theory military targets. The MOAB, "mother of all bombs" was a huge FAE.

First, they cause a hellacious explosion by spreading aerosol fuel via a bursting charge. There's a delay for that to disperse and mix with the air, then it is set off. It not only explodes, it burns all the oxygen in the affected area, suffocating those nearby who managed to avoid the blast. They also cause massive changes in air pressure, rupturing lungs, ears, and in some cases internal organs.

It's a nasty way to die.

OK, teacher. As usual, you are being a jerk.

I didn't claim to "care" about all the other wars. I wasn't discussing all the other wars at all, until you brought them up. Frankly, it shouldn't make any difference to this thread/war what I thought about any other war. I wasn't talking about other wars when I was posting about this one.

Just as a matter of principle, I think most wars are wrong -- this one in particular. But some wars are righteous, and worth fighting/dying in for some cause, and on some level. I've posted that sentiment here several times -- and not only in this thread. I don't claim, or imply, that I understand this war any better than anyone else. I'm more knowledgeable and more clearIy understanding about it understand it as I understand it, and my sentiments arise from that. My "special understanding" -- your description, not mine -- doesn't need to be stuffed anywhere, and I've been anything but hypocritical in discussing it.

I've contributed a lot to this thread, in terms of information, interesting, good and readable links, and I've read as many of the others that others have posted, too, because I think it's an important issue/story. I've made some valid points, while also expressing my anger, opinions and thoughts about the situation as clearly and honestly as I can, so I don't need a lecture from you. If we all think and feel the same, there's no reason to even have a thread at all, is there?

I understand the stakes, same as you do, which you'd know if you've read all my posts, because I've referenced them, and said so. But don't worry. I'm sure, in a day or two more, I'll be just like you, and will just throw up my hands and say, "Oh well, sorry, Ukraine. You're on your own, no matter what Putin does." and "He can do whatever he wants as long as it's not to a NATO country," etc.

And I won't post on the thread anymore. Because I'll be resigned to the glaring inaction, and there will be no point to discussing anything, or keeping up with anything, and interest -- on my part, and others', will wane, and all the support the world is offering to Ukraine right now -- monetarily, militarily and morally -- will be for naught.
