I really wish this is something I would’ve learned in better circumstances. You'd think my dumb brain would see a quarter of the world’s population in Asia wearing masks in crowded areas and think, “Maybe this is something I should investigate.”

In the middle of a really bad cold, sinus congestion, sore throat, sneezing, the works - hoping two bowls of chicken soup and a couple dashes of Tapatio does the trick.

The low point last June was around 11,000 new cases a day using the 7-day average, right before Delta came on the scene. Right now we're at 50K per day. I want to see that go lower still.

I’m giving it two more weeks wearing a mask.

We have one more week of masking in schools in California but districts can opt to continue enforcing a mandate. I’m assuming places like the Central Valley and Orange County will happily not look back. Hell, even the district I tried to get a job in will likely not extend the mandate due to (largely White) patent pressure. My district, however, of likely to day next week we’re keeping ours on in doors until the end of April. That takes us a week past Spring Break in case we have a repeat of the Christmas Holiday outbreak. Masking outside will end at the end of March.

I've seen people walking around with masks on for parts of the last 15 years in public, not just operating rooms and other healthcare facilities. COVID-19 didn't introduce masks to everyone.

Masking on the subway continues at 100% here.

Not much less in restaurants or on (in) line for takeout.

We live on the edge of Chinatown, where masking has always been popular.

So I expect lots of masks on lots of people for a long time to come.

I'd say 1 in 20 to 25 people wearing masks here. I worked playoff basketball games the past two nights. I saw maybe five masked total. I'm commuting by light rail into the office on Monday and it will be interesting to see how many have masks. I'll have to dig one out to have just in case it's needed still.

Federal mandate on masks on transit is still in effect.

    The SJ.com Local Mask Report.

Almost as compelling as the local temperature report on the Climate thread. Almost.

    LOL
