I guess I'm not sure how you write that piece without reference to the collapse of the 20th century middle class blue-collar manufacturing economy in favor of a no-collar 21st century information economy. And/or the offshoring of well-paying traditional blue collar work.

You can't really squawk about the failure of Democrats (alone) to win votes by encouraging a shift in education - while simultaneously ignoring the greatest changes in the history of the modern American workforce.

Polling firm YouGov has polled on the issue of "does the President have some control over gas prices" when there have been three gas price spikes, in 2008 under GW Bush, in 2012 under Obama and now under Biden. In each case, two thirds of those polled said yes. I've said this here before, but one big reason our politics are so dysfunctional is that our voters are so ignorant of basic facts about well, everything that most believe they're not electing a President to do a difficult job, but choosing a fucking wizard who will use his magic to make everything on earth better for them.

I tried to explain it was simply a case if supply and demand and some dipshit told me “Oil is a publicly traded commodity and psychology plays a role.”

    Wrong.

Stop Waiting for Trump to Get Convicted

"Just as the protection of impeachment against mendacity has proven inadequate, criminal law will probably prove the same. And that means that the only real protection against Trump’s malignancy is the ballot box."

And if those ballot boxes will be rigged for the person in question?

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just read on twitter somewhere that the average age of the first five Senators to speak at Judge Brown Jackson's hearing was 80. Both 2020 presidential candidates were way over 70 in 2020, and the incumbent will be over 80 in 2024. This is an absurd situation, and again, voters are to blame. Voting for the long-time brand name is the laziest way to vote and therefore the default position of many citizens.

Both parties are afraid to make age a part of an election debate because both parties have out-of-touch old white fossils who keep getting elected.

If I'm running against Chuck Grassley in 2022, I'm definitely making the case that he's 88 frigging years old. What do you have to lose? Getting elected as a Democrat in Iowa is already hard enough, might as well make a valid political point.
