It would be a distraction, and would piss off the green jackets and the Tour.

Agreed, but not a tour event. The green jackets said, "Phillllllllllll ...... don't F up our turnnnnnnnammmmmeeent,"

It would still piss of the Tour even though it’s not their event. Assuming he’s suspended, they don’t want him to be seen or heard.

Never mind all that pro golf talk. More importantly, after rehabbing a shoulder injury from last year's golf, I hit my 4 iron 185 yards at the range yesterday.

EDIT: I meant 4 wood. Which for me was still a clout.

As someone else said, it would be a one-day press bonanza but once the tournament starts, no one is bigger than the azaleas/greens/pimento sandwiches/etc. If Phil missed the cut (strong possibility with his rust), it would be long forgotten by Saturday afternoon.

So I'm not sure the greenjackets forced his hand. For all we know, Phil got advice to stay quiet for a very long time and, amazingly, he's heeding it.

He listens to his family. They probably called this tune.
Alternate theory. The blast of criticism Phil got has actually affected his game. He's gone to the range and he's not hitting it well, so he's engrossed in God knows what kind of positive thinking/reinforcement quackery to get his mind right.

It would in the case of a suspension for PHDs. The major governing bodies honor that. But that's the only time the Tour will release disciplinary action, both for offense and duration. We have to get the story from the player or agent.

He could pull that off if the club sneaks him in. Usually, the Augusta Chronicle has photogs staked out at the entrances to the building to catch guys going into the Champions Dinner.

I grew up a couple miles down the road from Oakland Hills. Played it a handful of times. Will likely be dead before the second of those two, and possibly even the first. That's all I got. Time freaking flies.

Well done — hopefully your shoulder is good to go this golf season.

As someone who is now on the wrong of 50 — both on and off the scorecard — my shoulder and back problems get more noticeable every year. My son can hear the clicking noises when I swing.

PT helps a little with range of motion, but since I’m not throwing too much BP anymore I’m not going to have surgery.
