President Biden: The NEW one and only politics thread

The bullshit from some of these Senators would be comical if this country wasn't where it is.

In the first breath, you get the affirmative action dog whistle with the LSAT questions.
In the second breath, you have Hawley breathless about a law review article she wrote.

And they do this shit unquestioned, without addressing the contradiction of her not having earned her way into the top law school in the country (something none of us know). ... but having served as an editor of the law review of the top law school in the country (something we know for sure).

If you were going to attack anything about her credentials, I would think it would be way more credible to ask about:
1) After the clawing she would have had to do to land 3 Federal judge clerkships, including one with Breyer (and they don't just give out those jobs as affirmative action rewards, because the work is demanding), why did she seem to burn out and retreat from the Federal judgeship track she had clearly put herself on (including the job as a public defender) until Obama plucked her from obscurity?

For me, though, that actually makes her human. More people have been there than ever admit.

2) Experience wise as a judge, she doesn't have much of a record yet, and it's mostly procedural stuff, not the kind of things she will be dealing with as a Supreme Court justice. So maybe have at that.

But that said, her role as a Supreme Court justice is going to be the same old BS with what the court has become, where she will act as a de facto legislator, not a judge, so does that stuff really matter much? If it's not her playing that role it will be someone else, so what it all boils down to is how activist she will be in turning the Constitution into whatever she wants it to be, and to what ends. And they aren't going to get answers to that, so this is all Kabuki Theater.
