What is it that you think is so well documented that I don't know exists, and where exactly did I tell you it doesn't exist?

What I do know is that if I could hire only women and get the same quality of work at a discount, I would never hire a man. And I am not alone in that sentiment, because the vast majority of businesses simply care about the bottom line. Just by virute of that, 100 times out of 100 in a free market, Jane's salary is going to equal Joe's salary, provided Joe and Jane are perfectly equal in an apples to apples way and Joe and Jane have the same exact motivations.

But all things are never equal. Take a step back.

You have no right to any specific compensation for your labor. It's freely negotiated between two sides. And if my motivations for wanting a specific job are different than yours, the compensation I am willing to accept may differ from what you are willing to accept.

When you find two people who are not earning the same exact salary, there are always going to be reasons for it. And you can't just gloss over those reasons to, the "discrimination! I can't believe you don't think it exists," as if that is what I said.

Just to give one example. I have seen things showing that if there is any subtle discrimination in the workplace, it's that men are often given teams and people they supervise earlier in their career, which in turn gains them larger spans of control, which quickly ends up translating to more salary and creates a snowball effect when it comes to getting raises and responsibilities.

But even there can you say it is just some he-man women haters club discrimination, because do you actually know if there is anything suggesting that men typically vie for those kinds of jobs more aggressively than women do early in their careers creating a self-fulfilling prophecy?

By the time you are googling up something to show me how women get shit on, you may not be comparing apples to apples anymore because that ship had passed when they were 23, creating a gap that can't be filled when they are both 38.

Before you go there, that was an example, not an all-or-nothing explanation of some sort. But there are REASONS for the phenomenon you see all around you, and they usually aren't the simplistic ones that people think, for example, that there is some grand collusion to discriminate against women that defies reason (you'd have so many big companies arbitraging it to the point that men would have trouble finding a lot of jobs).

You always turn that into "I can't believe you don't see such and such." I see the same things you do. I just don't make the conclusions about the reasons why things happen that you do.
