Was always a fan of his work. We both grew up idolizing Tim Raines, so his stuff struck a chord with me. Really appreciated his crusade in support of Raines' HOF candidacy; briefly met him at the induction ceremony and let him know as much.

Never would've thought he was capable of all this, but you never know about people. Certainly not the first false "idol" I've come across in this line of work...

Prosecutors asked for 12 months, the judge gave him 21 months.
This is quite the turn, and possibly setting standards on how we view character statements, considering they might instead reveal the depths the accused goes to hide their true self. (Shout out to all the male journos who are still screeching, "but he's such a good guy!")

"He killed 15 people? And you got it on video? ... Oh, no. ... Oh, no. Trust me, our son would never do that."

The judge is a man, which makes that all the more important.

The "good guy" stuff happens nearly every time someone commits a shocking crime. This should scare the shit out of all of us. On the outside, this monster was indeed a "good guy" by all accounts. Because we're all on the outside. As the videos posted over the past day illustrate, the guy had a mechanism where he could flip from Hyde to Jekyll in stride and not break a sweat. So how many other "good guys" in all our lives are terrorizing folks when nobody else is looking? Or even when they are looking. How many are right under our noses?
