    I did leave out the other parts to get tot he point. I see the uniform throughout the United States as meaning the same in every state, not every income level. We already have seven tax brackets ranging from 10-37% based on income, so I don't see this plan as any different.

    So it would be bad news for the constitution to do something that an amendment specifically allows? Sure Jan.

    It’s a direct tax. Direct taxes must apportioned, unless the constitution is meaningless. The income tax is not apportioned, because they actually amended the constitution, rather than just tossing it aside.

    Aside from that, though, the basic tenets this country was founded on were people having the right to life, liberty and property. We have now gotten so far away from those ideals that the brand of populism behind this sees it as ok to just seize people’s property.
