No, I haven’t seen any of the movies
Not even sure of all the nominees

When 75 percent of America hasn't seen any of the nominees for Best Picture - don't expect a big audience. Not dismissing the movies nominated, they probably are the best movies of the year - but I also get the sense that the Academy nominates movies it thinks also best "represents" the industry. Which often doesn't translate into a big television audience. Imagine a Super Bowl featuring two teams 75 percent of the country hasn't seen play all year or know anything about - I doubt it would get good ratings either.

Expanding the number of Best Picture nominees was a terrible idea

I have never been less interested in the Oscars than I am this year. Not sure why because I love the movies. I have not seen a lot of these I didn't make the effort to find them once the nominations came out.

There's also a documentary on Amazon Prime directed by Amy Poehler that is worth your time.

I watched 45 minutes of West Side Story. It's...not great. Tony and Maria are two of the most boring people. Give me a whole movie about Anita and Bernardo. (But also, straight-up remakes are boring.)

The Eyes of Tammy Faye with Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield was really well done. If nothing else, it should get some awards for the makeup and costuming.

Otherwise, I'm all in rooting for Lin-Manuel Miranda to get his Oscar for EGOT.

I liked Being the Ricardos. And I liked Licorice Pizza. Outside of that ...
