It's a shaky idea overall. Puts way too much on a presidential election every four years. Makes the president much more like an autocrat, too.

 

There's an internal logic to her thinking if she simply doesn't care what Congress does or doesn't do. Which is what she seems to be saying: You can't trust moderates to compromise, so simply operate without Congress, issuing executive orders to achieve the will of progressives.

It's easier to apply pressure to a single heart-on-his-sleeve president who's prone to big emotions and feeling bad about letting people down.

What a smart, hard working, articulate, serious person she is. Wish there were more like her.

The AOC wing of the party reminds me of what happened to Labour under Jeremy Corbin. He thought he was the smartest guy in the room, and he led the party off a cliff.
