Ke'Bryan Hayes' exit in 1st inning casts a cloud over opener, as Cardinals pound Pirates

The Pirates are saying it was just a cramp in his thumb and talking about how odd it was, but they expect him back in the lineup Saturday. After what happened last season, I'm not buying it. I'm not sure if this is true, but I read that he hadn't actually signed the new contract yet. If that is true, I wonder if the Pirates try to back out pending Hayes actually demonstrating that the can stay on the field for a few games.

 

The No. 9 hitter in an all-NL game just hit a 3-run homer.
